Dr. Catherine Ulbricht, Founder and CEO of Natural Standard, interviews David Foreman, RPh, who is widely known as the owner of "The Herbal Pharmacist® Newsletter." He is a contributing columnist for several Natural Health publications, a radio host, television commentator and practitioner of holistic approaches to better health. David is also a lecturer to many of America's most prestigious hospitals and author to the new book Four Pillars of Health: Heart Disease, which discusses four simple steps to rid the body of heart disease. Complimentary access to the webinar is available October 1-31, 2011 (Requires Windows Media Player).
The transcript is also available as a PDF file.
David’s view on statin drugs is refreshing and one that mirrors my own opinion. Consumers would rather take a pill to improve their heath then to put in any effort to help their body’s already amazing abilities to handle abnormalities. As healthcare professionals, we should be pushing diet and exercise above statins. I feel by giving them a statin, the patient is more likely to shrug off the lifestyle modifications because they have a magic pill that will make everything better.

What a great webinar! Mr. Foreman addressed so many topics that anybody that listens in will definitely go away with new and helpful information. I thought the phrase he kept using “MAN-ipulated” was pretty funny but true in many ways. I never thought about food in that manner before. Staying away from foods that aren’t in their natural state would surely lead to many health benefits and probably prevent some of the most common disease states that plague the U.S. Also, I like how Dr. Ulbricht pointed out that although someone may be physically thin, this does not mean he or she is healthy, so it is very important to not only exercise regularly but to also monitor what you eat.
