Natural Standard recently launched the new Recipe Database, which serves as a resource for both healthcare professionals and consumers.
In addition to regular exercise, well-balanced meals and sensible portions are important to overall health. To maintain a healthy weight, an individual's intake of calories should be about equal to the calories used or burned during the day. If an individual eats more calories than are burned, the body stores the extra calories as fat.
This new database features a wide range of healthy recipes in the following categories: Beans & Legumes, Dairy, Eggs, Fruit, Meat, Pasta, Poultry, Rice & Grains, Seafood, Vegetables and Nuts, Fats & Oils.
Each recipe provides details on preparation time, difficulty, diet and nutrition, as well as direct links to Natural Standard evidence-based systematic reviews for studied ingredients.
Natural Standard welcomes submissions of non-copyrighted healthy recipes for inclusion in the Recipe Database. If you would like to submit a recipe, please email recipes@naturalstandard.com.

Over the past few weeks I have been apart of adding new recipes to database. This is something I have been very happy to do because as I look around the internet it is hard to find a lot of healthy recipes. You can usually find a few recipes here and there but having a place that compiles many healthy recipes is so helpful. A major key to people not eating more healthy is not knowing how to cook healthy. A simple thing such as a recipe database is a great way to increase the health of our nation.

From a general perspective, very little is done to promote a healthy eating habit to the general public. It is our responsibility to eat right and stay healthy. Eating and staying healthy is not as expensive as most people think. You can adapt a very healthy eating habit today by looking into some of the recipes from the Natural Standard website http://www.naturalstandard.com/tools/handouts/recipe/a/ .

I believe the new recipe database is great. As a health professional there are so many times you may have to bring up to a patient the word diet (and exercise). Most, but not all people, have diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. due to being overweight and having a very poor diet. You can tell the person to eat better, but if they live off fast food and fats, do they know what eating better actually consists of. It may consist partly of limiting the fat consumption or fast food, but knowing which types of foods can really be helpful too. Some foods that seem healthy may not be great in large consumptions for diabetics (example: corn). Also there have been many studies on the benefits of a mediterrean diet!

The new recipe database is a great idea. For healthy people , It is all about living a healthy lifestyle and begins with their diet. Diet means healthy eating which means healthy lifestyle. It is better to cook for yourself.

This recipe database is awesome! I really like how it lets you search by food type instead of by meal type (dinner/lunch etc). I think it allows you to consider food options you might not have previously considered. I think it would also be great if there was a way to add the recipes you like to a digital shopping list you could upload to your phone.

The new recipe database is a great addition to the Natural Standard website! This provides a great resource and opportunity for a healthcare provider to provide handouts to their patients.

I feel that the new database is a great idea. It offers an opportunity for people to expand their palates and to eat healthy. There seems to be a wide variety of recipes to choose from. The database itself contains easy to follow instructions.

This is a great compilation of recipes! Making food rather than take-out or restaurants is such a great way to keep track of what is going into my body. I hope this new Recipe Database will give me inspiration to start packing my lunch for work and trying new foods!

I totally agree. It's a great addition. I love trying new recipes and I like how it breaks down the nutrition facts for you so you can better control what you eat. It also tells how easy/difficult it is and time required.

I think a recipe database is a great addition to the site! It can help emphasize personal well-being and care. As the saying goes, “You are what you eat” and if a person wants to be healthy, adjusting their diet is a great first step. Plus, it’s better to cook for yourself because you can control what goes into it, as opposed to fast food, and can adjust the food to however you like.

Awesome idea! I just checked out some recipes and I found really great ones on there! I found a Korean beef stir fry recipe that I want to try making. The database is cool because it breaks down the recipes into types of diet and nutrition facts!
