This article was such a great read. Weight loss seems to always be at the forefront of everyones' minds. The weight loss industry makes so much money selling miracle pills and when one is desperate to lose, all reason seems to go out the window and we buy anything and everything to help in the process. Its so nice to see that there are actual natural supplements that one can add on their own, not by relying on the "Magic Slimdown" company to make a concoction for you. And these supplements have been evaluated without bias, allowing you to make an informed decision. I also found some of the things in the list interesting, like CLA, which is found in beef and dairy products. Many diets will tell you to rid these things from your diet, but there is evidence to suggest that the nutrients within them help you lose weight. It just goes to show how one needs to educate oneself, instead of relying on the latest fad.

I remember my grandpa used to take chitosan supplements to help control his cholesterol levels, but never would have imagined it would have weight-loss effects as well! I like how most of these weight-loss supplements can come in food forms, so that someone who is looking for weight-loss supplements can incorporate them into his or her diet without having to increase pill burden.

The title of this article is actually accurate, I have never heard of many of these supplements. Or if I have heard of them, I didn’t know they could be used for weight loss. It’s nice to read an article on some natural products and foods that can be incorporated into the diet to supplement a balanced diet and exercise to aid in weight loss.

This article is super interesting! I had never heard of any of the supplements before besides whey protein, and it is great that all of the ones listed have a Natural Standard grade of B. One of my favorite features of Natural Standard is that there is information in patient friendly language, so people can learn more about the products and know they are taking something safe. With all of these different diet pills on the market, its great to let consumers know there are natural alternatives that have been studied, and work!

I certainly have not heard of most of these supplements before! It was interesting to see that these weight loss supplements all have such a strong evidence grade supporting them. A few patients have asked about CLA recently as it has been mentioned on Dr. Oz. It is encouraging to see good scientific evidence in its favor, as reduction in body fat can certainly be beneficial to some patients. Very interesting article outlining new solutions in weight loss.

This article mentioned whey protein having an evidence grade of B for suppressing appetite in the short term. It would be interesting to investigate if this is specific to whey protein or applies to any protein. People with milk allergies have to be careful of whey protein since it is an additive in many foods. I hope that it continues to be used in protein shakes and weight loss supplements but not in everyday foods where someone with a milk allergy might not notice it as one of the ingredients.

I have also never heard of sharecare before this, and I agree with the previous post that it seems like a good site for Natural Standard to be publishing articles on. This article in particular is great since I feel like most of us are constantly trying to lose weight and be healthier. I have heard of glucomannan and whey protein before but the others were new to me.

The title of this article is accurate, for me at least. I hadn’t heard of any of these supplements as being used for weight loss before. I was excited to learn that mango made this list as a weight loss supplement because mangoes are one of my favorite fruits! The use of chitosan is surprising to me. I wonder how many people actually use chitosan for either its potential cholesterol lowering abilities or weight loss.

Great blog! I haven't even heard of chitosan before and it seems like an affordable, natural alternative. A 30 day supply at a nutrition store runs about 20-25 dollars which is far less than most weight loss supplements and some of the them include psyllium as well. I had read a few patient reports of how using chitosan has helped better manage their high cholesterol and how it is a great add on to a weight loss program. I also read that there were no known side effects?? Crazy!

I have never heard of sharecare.com before reading this post. The link from this blog redirected my there and it seems like a nice site for the Natural Standard to be publishing articles on. This article about the weight loss supplements is also very interesting. The title is very fitting because I really have not heard of many of the supplements discussed. It was interesting to take a look at their monographs too. All of them got an evidence grade of B! I had never realized that whey protein was used at a weight loss supplement. I was always under the impression it was used by body builders to bulk up, like other protein supplements.
